Our Story

Lignarolo was born from a simple idea: to create well-made shoes that feel personal.

My name is Giorgio Lignarolo. The brand carries my surname not a name I invented, not a word I chose from a list. My actual name. Every pair of shoes we make has the same name I was born with. That's not a marketing decision. It's a commitment.

It started with a gap.

I spent years in the international textile industry managing sales across markets, working between Latin America and the US, understanding how fabric and materials move through the global supply chain. I was inside the industry that supplies the industry. I saw, up close, what quality looks like when it's done right and how often it wasn't.

When I started looking for a loafer or a pair of boots I actually wanted to own, I kept running into the same problem. The well-made ones were priced as if craftsmanship were a luxury only a few people deserved. The accessible ones cut corners in ways I could recognize immediately. Full-grain leather swapped for corrected grain. Hand stitching replaced by machine shortcuts. Materials chosen for margin, not for longevity.

I didn't find what I was looking for. So I learned how to make it.

The inheritance.

Lignarolo is an Italian surname. I have Italian roots, and with them whether I asked for it or not comes a particular relationship with the idea of quality. Not as a price point. As a standard. As the minimum acceptable way of doing things.

Ereditá di Famiglia — family inheritance. Ours isn't a workshop passed down through generations or a trade secret handed from father to son. It's something quieter than that: a belief that if your name is on something, it had better be right. That materials matter. That the person who made the thing matters. That a product should outlast the trend that made it popular.

I taught myself this craft. I learned the process, found the artisans, studied the construction methods. Not because it was the easy path it wasn't but because there was no other honest way to do it.

How we make them.

Our shoes are made in our small artisan workshops where shoemaking has been practiced for generations. We work closely with master craftsmen who know every pair that leaves their bench and we invest constantly in bringing new artisans into the trade, training them in techniques like hand-stitching the moccasin seam on the last, so that this knowledge doesn't disappear.

We use full-grain Italian leather. We build using Blake construction so every pair can be resoled. We produce in small batches so nothing is rushed and everything is checked. And we sell directly no retail partners, no showrooms so you pay for the shoe, not the supply chain around it.

Why it matters now.

We're based in the United States, selling to people who have seen enough disposable products to know the difference between something made to last and something made to sell. The market doesn't need another shoe brand. It needs fewer, better ones.

That's what Lignarolo is. A shoe worth owning. Made by people worth knowing. With a name behind it that means something to the person who put it there.
